Its funny how someone’s trash can be someone else’s treasure. Here are some of the pictures that were taken from a camera with a broken CCD, u know those devices that capture images in a digital camera. Interestingly the  images turned out well unexpected, they had kinda like a thermal image feel like in that predator movie. I thought it kinda looked cool so i thought I’d share them.

I really love shooting with long exposures. It brings out really amazing effects.If you have moving vehicles then they leave behind those magical trails of lights.
The exposure depends upon the amount of time the shutter is open. To capture those streaks of light a shutter time of 1-4 seconds is enough depending upon the lighting conditions.

Here are some helpful tips to capture those trails of lights:

• Choose a broad street with busy traffic.
• If possible use a tripod.
• If you do not have a tripod then rest your camera on some support so that it doesn’t not move while taking the picture. you will have a nightmare time if you try to use just your bare hands unless you have a very steady hand and i mean very steady.
• While pressing the shutter the camera may move a little leading to blurry images, so if possible use a self timer or a shutter release cable.
• Use manual mode or shutter priority and set shutter speed of a few seconds depending upon the lighting conditions and the length of the trail that you want. Remember longer the shutter speed longer the trail of light.
• Use narrow aperture for good Depth of field and to achieve slower shutter speed.
• Use a low ISO setting of about 50 or 100.
• Experiment. Try shooting from different angles.

One of the things that i love about my Fujifilm S7000 Digital Camera is its amazing macro mode. It has one of the best macro modes out there. With its super macro mode i like to get really close to the subject and i mean really close. I can shoot from about 1cm from the subject and there were instances where my lens was actually in contact with the subject , that’s how close.

Here are some tips on shooting close objects:

• Most cameras have a built in macro mode which can be activated by the push of a button(one with the flower on it), use this while closing in on the subject.
• When u get really close to the subject the depth of field or the area infront and behind the subject which is in good focus, is shallow. This isolates the subject from the background which helps u focus on what u want to show.But if you prefer that the background also be in focus then u need to do a couple of things. The subject should be well illuminated and your camera if it supports should be in aperture priority mode. Put the aperture to the smallest a value of f/11 or f/16 should do.
• While shooting in macro mode it is better not to use the optical view finder…because the viewfinder and the camera CCD are in different positions so it can lead to Parallax error. So use the LCD.
• If you own a D-SLR then to get best results go for a macro lens.

This is my first Post on my very first blog. The first Post is about the Rato Machindranatha jatra that takes place every year. They worship the rato machindranath deity or the rain God for rain and good harvest. They say that during the festival it always rains and this year sure enough it rained although just a drizzle.
